A skin scent should stay close. Layering can help it last, but the aim is not to turn it into a room-filling perfume.
Begin with moisture, not another fragrance
Apply an unscented lotion or body oil first and let it settle. Moisturized skin can hold perfume longer without changing its character.
Use one spray in one place
Choose the wrist, chest or neck. Starting with one spot makes it easier to tell whether the base product changed the perfume.
Check it from a normal distance
Move your wrist away from your nose and wait. A skin scent works when someone standing close can notice it, not when it fills the room.
